An advisory board put together by the Department of Homeland Security under the Biden administration made the outlandish suggestion that supporters of Donald Trump, along with military veterans and religious Americans, pose a domestic terrorism risk.
This is according to internal files from the Homeland Intelligence Experts Group, a panel that was established last September on the pretense of providing “advice and perspectives on intelligence and national security efforts.”
It included former National Intelligence Director James Clapper and John Brennan, who served as the director of the CIA under the Obama era. Both men were known for falsely claiming that reporting on Hunter Biden’s laptop in the New York Post was Russian disinformation ahead of the 2020 presidential election.
The group was so objectionable that the conservative nonprofit America First Legal filed a suit in November claiming it was filled with Democrat partisans and was in violation of the Federal Advisory Committee Act due to its “lack of balance, the Biden Administration’s inappropriate influence over it, and its lack of public notice and participation.”
In an out-of-court settlement, the Department of Homeland Security agreed to disband the Homeland Intelligence Experts Group and share its internal records with the AFL.
These records paint a disturbing picture of the aims of this incredibly biased group, which included its desire to “get into local communities in a non-threatening way.”
They used very alarming criteria to determine terrorism risks, such as tagging individuals with labels such as being “religious” or “in the military” as a pretext for the DHS to spy on them.
According to the group, these people are more worthy of concern than the unvetted illegal aliens that have been allowed to make their way into the country and left-wing extremist groups such as antifa.
The board noted: “If you ask researchers to dive into indicators of extremists and terrorism, they might indicate being in the military or religious. This being identified as an indicator suggests we should be more worried about those. We need the space to talk about it honestly.”
The group also discussed their belief that Trump supporters are the biggest threat in the U.S., with their meeting notes stating: “There is a political backdrop to all of this. It seems that most of the Domestic Terrorism threat now comes from supporters of the former president. It is not like you want a political advantage, but people have attacked the government and its institutions for the last six years.”
The Homeland Intelligence Experts Group also hoped to set up an influence operation that would convince teachers and mothers to report parents and students they suspected of “domestic extremism.”
They also suggested categorizing political dissent as a “public health” crisis to motivate people to report others in their community – or even family members – to the government.
One participant suggested: “To get a mother or teacher to come forward, it needs to be a public health catcher’s mitt.”
Another solution that was put forward was enlisting corporate America to provide intelligence on employees.
The Executive Director of the AFL, Gene Hamilton, told Fox News: “These shocking records reveal apparent unabashed partisanship on this Deep State committee. All efforts to weaponize the federal government against political opponents of the ruling regime should be stopped. We look forward to exposing more records in the coming days.”
